Your session agent.
For every job search.
On your device.

Jort watches the searches you choose on supported job-listing websites, keeps each site session inside the app, and lets you know when something new appears—not by looking inside your main browser.

01No Jort accountThere is no separate account or developer-operated profile.
02Local by defaultYour searches, jobs, settings, and session stay in Jort’s app storage.
03Two optional choicesNotifications and relaxed battery restrictions improve alerts.
04One job sourceJort connects directly to supported job-listing websites to load the searches you request.

For Jort users

Useful alerts, with clear choices.

Jort helps you follow searches across supported job-listing websites, save interesting listings, and spot new matches. Manual searching continues to work even if you decline notifications or keep Android’s normal battery optimization enabled.

Notification permission

On Android 13 and later, Jort asks before showing job alerts. We use this permission only for new-job alerts and a reconnect reminder if a job-site session needs your attention. You can decline it, turn it off later, or disable alerts for an individual search.

Battery settings

Android may delay background work to save power. Jort can open your device’s battery settings so you may allow more reliable background checks and session validation. This is optional, may use more battery, and cannot guarantee exact refresh times.

Private in-app session

Sign-in or verification for a supported job-listing website happens in Jort’s own embedded WebView. Jort reuses each site-specific session only with that same website and only for searches you choose. It does not ask for access to, inspect, or copy cookies and history from Chrome, Firefox, or another browser.

What Jort does not request

Jort does not request your location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, phone, SMS, photos, videos, or shared device storage. It also does not request accessibility access.

Your browsers

Chrome, Firefox, and others

Their history, cookies, saved passwords, and tabs remain outside Jort’s app sandbox.

Private boundary

Jort’s own WebView

Each isolated job-site session is encrypted and stored only inside Jort’s private app storage.

Direct connection

Selected job website

Jort sends a site-specific session only to the website that issued it when loading or refreshing searches you chose.

Permissions Jort uses

A small, purpose-bound permission surface.

Package com.jort uses only the Android permissions needed to connect to supported job-listing websites, schedule network-aware checks, and—when the user opts in—display useful alerts.

Release manifest overview

The production build does not declare location, storage, contacts, microphone, camera, accessibility, exact-alarm, foreground-service, advertising-ID, or direct battery-exemption permissions.

android.permission.INTERNET

Loads publicly available job pages and results, validates the app-contained session for the selected website, and refreshes searches selected by the user. Network traffic goes directly between Jort and that website.

Required
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE

Lets WorkManager wait for an available connection instead of attempting a refresh while the device is offline. It does not reveal browsing history or network contents.

Required
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS

Requested in context after the user enables tracking for a search. Used only for new-job alerts and a reconnect reminder. Refusal leaves manual refresh and the rest of the app available.

User choice
Battery optimization settings

Jort may open standard Android settings after a clear explanation. The release build does not request REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS; the user makes any change directly in system settings. The purpose is to reduce delays to background search checks and session recovery.

User choice
Contextual requestsNotification consent appears only when a user enables a tracked search.
Graceful refusalDeclining notifications or battery changes does not block manual use.
No hidden browser accessAndroid app sandboxing keeps Jort’s WebView separate from external browsers.

Data handling

What is handled—and where it goes.

Jort has no developer-operated backend, advertising platform, or analytics service. It stores the information needed to perform its features locally and connects to supported job-listing websites when you ask it to search.

Searches and preferences

Search terms, tracked-search choices, refresh interval, job-count preference, theme preference, and timestamps needed to manage updates.

On device
Job information

Public job-listing titles, descriptions, URLs, budgets, skills, matching scores, and whether you saved or ignored a listing.

On device
In-app job-site sessions

Session cookies, cookie updates, the WebView user-agent string, and capture time. These values are encrypted with a key held by Android Keystore and excluded from cloud backup and device transfer.

Encrypted on device
Local activity diagnostics

Recent refresh outcomes and basic state flags such as network, power-saving, screen, lock, idle, or background-restriction status. The log avoids credentials and raw page bodies, stays on device, and is automatically limited to recent activity.

On device
Network requests

Search URLs and the corresponding Jort WebView session are sent only to the selected job-listing website to return public job pages and maintain that site’s session. The website also receives ordinary connection information such as the device’s IP address.

Full policy

The details, still in plain English.

This section explains storage, sharing, retention, deletion, security, and third-party services.

Collection and sharing

Jort does not send your searches, saved jobs, diagnostics, or app preferences to the Jort developer. Jort does not sell personal data and does not share it with advertisers or data brokers. The app sends requests and a site-specific session only to the supported job-listing website you selected so it can provide the requested public listings. Each website handles information it receives under its own privacy terms.

Security

Jort stores job-site sessions in private app storage using AES-GCM encryption with a 256-bit key held by Android Keystore. Session information is excluded from Android backup and device transfer. Network requests use HTTPS. No system can promise absolute security, but Jort limits access and retention to what its features need.

Retention and deletion

Searches, jobs, and preferences remain until you remove them, clear Jort’s app storage, or uninstall the app. Recent diagnostic activity is kept locally for up to seven days. Clearing app storage deletes local job-site sessions and other local data. Jort has no separate server account to delete.

Android backup

Android may include the local job database and ordinary preferences in encrypted cloud backup or device transfer when those features are enabled. Job-site session data and the local activity log are specifically excluded. Android and Google control backup retention under the user’s device and Google Account settings.

Job-listing websites and independence

Jort is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the job-listing websites it supports. Public listing content and interactions with a website are subject to that website’s terms and privacy policy. Jort does not combine or transfer sessions between websites.

Children

Jort is a professional job-search utility and is not directed to children. The developer does not knowingly collect children’s personal information through a Jort-operated service.

Policy changes

If Jort’s data practices change, this policy will be updated before or alongside the relevant app release. The effective date at the top of the page will also change. Material changes will be communicated in the app or through the Google Play listing when appropriate.

Privacy contact

Questions should have a clear way home.

For a privacy question, data-handling concern, or deletion enquiry, contact the Jort developer using the developer contact email shown on Jort’s Google Play listing. Please do not include a job-site password, cookies, or other authentication information in your message.
